Hey, dialup
Wow, I haven’t heard that modem handshake sound in a couple of years. That’s right, I’m connecting via dialup, right this very moment. One of my fellows here at the group vacation house had free access info that he’s letting me use. So, there may be some blogging of the trip after all. Right now, I’m going to wrap this up, and do any other posts the smart way–;viz., I will type things up offline and post when finished. At the moment, all I really wanted to say is, “dialup. Crazy.” Have a nice Sunday.

..I leave you with music. Lorie and I leaving tomorrow morning for a looooong drive to Bethany Beach, Delaware, there to hang out with some old friends we haven’t seen in quite awhile. I’ll be bringing the laptop with me, but I’m not sure what kind of net access there will be, if any. So any blogging I do of the trip might have to wait until I get back next Thursday to be actually posted.
In the meantime, I recently finished a demo for a new track, called “Clean Star” to be released (after the mix gets a little more polished) under the new moniker Tree Grammar. (This is just an early and rough mix, and still needs a little work, but worth releasing as a preview, I thought.) I wanted a new “band” name for this, because it’s fairly different from my usual. I guess it still sounds a lot like me, but there’s a much stronger Microhouse aspect. I’ve been listening to a lot of MRI and guys on the Thinner net label recently. I really like this sort of thing, and thought I’d try my hand at it. I’m still learning, but not bad for a first attempt, I thought. So far, until I get a chance to work on the mix some more, I think it sounds better through headphones than over speakers.
Well, gotta go get busy packing—;.
UPDATE: I’m gonna take the demo track down now, as the final mix is finished. It will appear by and by on the Pedicel page, as soon as that gets further along. Thanks for listening, and I promise the final mix is even better.

Although I pulled out Destiny Street for “Kid With the Replaceable Head” and other funky rockers (and indeed, Mr. Quine’s flipped-out, but thoroughly bluesy solos do not disappoint)–;it turns out the album has the best possible melancholy tribute to the departed: the Voidoid’s cover of Dylan’s “Going Going Gone”, presented here (at least as long as I can spare the bandwidth) in mp3 audio format. Play it loud for one of the truly great lost primitive sophisticates.
Addendum: just found this heartfelt message from Richard Hell on the forums page at richardhell.com. It’s beautiful.
15:17 | 0 CommentsThough Bob, of all the punk musicians, was the most musically sophisticated (unless you count Verlaine whod come in pretty close), as much so as anybody who ever played in a rock and roll band in fact, he still belonged beyond a doubt to the genre if you want to discuss that issue, by virtue of his anger and his musical values. He wasnt interested in virtuosity but in feeling and invention (and aggression). —; Anyway, he was very angry but he was also as much of a gentleman as he could possibly bear to be and he made the anger into entertainment by developing a triple reverse humor that took your breath away. He was the funniest guy I ever knew.
Im going to leave it at that for now. Fuck.
