Namechecked on BoingBoing

Well, there seems to be some borked HTML keeping me from getting a link back, but the “Thomas” that’s mentioned in the Update to this BoingBoing post is me! I sent Cory a friendly email with the info about the silly Tube map page, and now just like that I’m internet famous!

Update: that Cory is a gentleman and a scholar. He gone and done fixed up the linkage.

My noise

So for Valentine’s Day this year, money being tight and all, the missus and I decided to give each other mix CDs. Now, whereas the one I gave her was all of the swooshy ambient-variety musics and meant to help her out with falling asleep at bedtime (there’s been some trouble with that, lately, but that’s another story), the one she gave me is all full of the indie rock. Which I mention because one of the songs on there is “Brand New Love” by Sebadoh, which got me thinking of the cover of that Superchunk did, which got me thinking about Superchunk in general, and especially about the Tossing Seeds singles compilation, which I used to have on cassette tape way back when, and which not only has that “Brand New Love” cover, but also (of course) everyone’s favorite, “Slack Motherfucker,” along with my very own personal favorite, “My Noise,” which turns out to be the very first original they ever cut.

So the next thing you know I’m on the iTunes Music Store, which I’m happy to say has “Tossing Seeds” on it, so now all that is on my iPod and I’m about to go get in the car and play it very loudly while I drive somewhere.

Endorphins are magic

So the old knee started in with the hurting again as usual, just as I was finishing the first mile, and then it felt pretty sore through most of the second. But then an amazing thing happened: a couple of laps into mile three, the pain began to subside, until by the end of third mile, my knee didn’t hurt at all. So, what the hell, I decided to run a fourth mile. It felt great, no pain whatsoever.

That old knee is plenty stiff and sore now, though, boy howdy. Oh, well.
