phrase of the day

Excuse-moi, je n'ai pas compris. Vous pouvez répéter?
I don't know if I spelled it right. But you get the idea! So I write it on an index card, and walk around saying it all day, and say it to myself on the el platform, and in the bathroom, when I'm in the shower, when I am not repeating the other phrase which is stuck in my head, je suis suisse. Je suis suisse! Can it be true!? Not really! But this imaginary guy in our textbook is, and we can't ever forget it!
And hey, its fun to say.
But whoa, dudes! Its fall all the sudden! And I have been knitting with wool, much wool! And buying glove liners for Bike Winter, which, who knows, may or may not get off the ground where I am concerned! Will I wuss out?? No one can say!!
But the good news is, NOAA is predicting it will be warmer this winter than the 30-year average, but 8% colder than last year, which is still kinda freakishly warm, hopefully.
My only other excuse is my gears are slipping, and I have a new chain, but who knows because Mr. Goddamn Sunshine says I may need a new cassette, and I'm not even sure what one is, because I must not have been paying attention that day.
Here are the Knit-A-Log highlights, in brief, for your pleasure~

•A big box of chocolate brown Cascade 220 arrived in the mail, along with 2 US size 7 circs, and soon, so very soon, I shall tempt fate by casting on for Avast, Sweater Curse be damned! I am throwing caution to the wind. If I have to I will get some of this stuff, but mostly because I like the chicken on the wrapper. And hey, it can't hurt.
And plus, how fun is it to get boxes of yarn in the mail? Its better than Christmas. That's how.

•I've been making hats. Wooly ones. Its fun, even though it may never get cold enough to need them. Which of course, now that I've said it, it will, which is also why I got these today at the camping store. Ah, camping store! I hate camping (actually have never been- ok, I'm scared of camping! And not because I fear bears! No! I fear the dark! Its a fact.) but love the camping store. So many overpriced things for keeping you warm on mountains and in the wilderness! Or, when you have no body fat! And even if you never stray far from central heating. Its important! Believe it!

•It is always interesting, in a kind of uncomfortable way, but still not too uncomfortable to be interesting, to observe the spectrum of humanity and human social interaction at other people's family's social occasions, such as wedding receptions. Especially if it is a multi-cultural affair, and involves meeting your boyfriend's family and extended family, and there are returning Iraq veterans, some in sailor suits, and dancing, and in particular if the dj plays Baby Got Back (note to self-file under Future Wedding Reception Playlist- Sir Mix-A-Lot). The quote of the evening came from Mr. Goddamn Sunshine, Sr., who glanced around the room, and then, waxed poetic, "There are few things sadder in the world than a sparsely attended party." So there you have it, although I wouldn't have gone that far.
Mr. Sunshine the Younger and I did slip out as soon as it was polite to do so, hit the video store on the way home, and I watched The Aristocrats, which I had never seen. Whoa. Rawther bawdy!
