Some really nice artwork, not mine
Although I have finished some lately, and am going to be putting it in the Critical Mass Art Show, details to come.
But Molly sent me a url to this guy's work, do go see the whimsicality, the beauty! Go! Look around! Take in the eye candy! Oh, the eye candy! Lovely.
In other news, did you know its Franz Schubert's birthday? It is! Happy 210th!
Did you also know that I really want to go to see this?
Dudes dress up like Albanians to test the loyalties of their fiancees. With the help of a devious maid. What but what could be more hilarious? The music is nice too.
You need to eat your Mozart once in awhile, or your life will be sad. Trust me.

I finished a sock plus, some pretty creepy business.
Now I have to make the other one.

And I'm suffering from Sock Fatigue. Its like that thing when you cook something and then you don't want to eat it anymore. Kind of.

Because I want to wear them but I don't want to knit with this yarn anymore! Its pretty. But I've seen quite a bit of it.
So the thing is, work on something else or forge ahead and and finish the other one, and of course you have to forge ahead, because. One can't allow Sock Fatigue to win.
Here's a really interesting thing I listened to on Democracy Now recently, about creepy underhanded privitization of war which our government is up to under our very noses. Not that we didn't know they were up to all manner of creepy stuff. This is extra creepy I thought. So go read it, (or I think you can listen to it, too) and be creeped out.

Looking like a sweater
Look out! Knitting content!
I'm very proud because the pea-green loveliness that is the sweater I began making for Joey Helpy-Chalk last summer (with the really nice Sirdar pattern and yarn purchased at Sea Needles) is beginning to look like a proper garment for a smallish person!
Check it out~

For some time I procrastinated because of the instructions, which are written in British-English, which is a whole other thing from your regular American-English, were odd and messed me up, as far as how to put in the collar ribbing. Where it meant "pick up" stitches, it said "pick up evenly and knit" x number of stitches, which, for some reason threw me way off. I kept trying to pick up one, knit it, and then pick up the next. Weird, I know. Retarded? Yeah, maybe. Just a teeny bit. (holds up thumb and index finger close together in the air and squints through them.) It took David to straighten things out for me. "I would just pick up the stitches" he said. "Duh." No, he didn't say duh. Maybe he thought it but he didn't say it. Oh, he's a much braver man than I!! Thanks David!
I'm particularly proud also because it has this wacky buttonhole thingy at the shoulder which I managed to navigate ok, although having put down the pattern entirely in a fit of pique over the whole "pick up and knit" wackiness, having one of the buttonholes be in the collar stitches, I have to admit, also freaked me out. Freaky British pattern writing freaks. Just when I thought I was done with buttonholes, it was all like "rib to the last 5 stitches, cast off 2, rib 3." And the next row~ rib 3, cast on 2, rib to the end." Totally freaked me out until I realized I had only 2 buttonholes and there were 3 in the picture. Dudes. There ought to be a law, man.

ta-da!!! Buttonhole. Yay.
Here's all three~

And plus, more knitting news and photos for your entertainment and edification! Because! Dan is now the proud wearer of these Lorna's Laces Daffodil (don't tell him the name of the colorway! If he knows he might never wear them again) socks, which were, and are, in fact, the first pair I ever made, which accounts for why they fit Dan, and not me, as I had intended. I got a little carried away. But they look awesome on the man-size, manly feet, no?

Magnifique! I'd say. And peep the sexy tattoo.
(You can look, but you can't touch, ladies. That's all I'm sayin'.)
And look! The feet in action. Woo!

I might have to order more of this colorway, but would it be too cute to have matching pairs?? Probably, but when has cuteness been a problem? That's the thing.
One more shot of a boy and his socks~

And finally, for your viewing pleasure, or pain, Dan goes all Salvador Dali on our asses! (Is that a lobster on a leash, Dan?? Or are you glad to see me??-Sorry.)

Oh, and for some face-melting rock 'n' roll, do go see Indigo, Dan's daughter, rock the school talent show. She will kick your ass. Its a fact.
And hey, while you're there, stop by and visit our very own Lucy rockin' in her inimitable way. The cuteness, oh! The cuteness! The cheeks. You will be awed.

A little less nervous for the polar bears
Hey! What the hell is this? And why is it so cold??

Marcel doesn't like it one bit.
I think its kind of pretty in our backyard.
There has been a snowman motif going which has only underscored the lack of actual winter, until now.

And plus, the fake raccoons were kind of wondering. Now they know.

In other news, the apartment is shaping up nicely (photos, I promise)
and I am very excited because I ordered this fabric from Reprodepot for curtains for the Chicken Kitchen. Oh, do go see the chickeny lovliness. It will make you long for your very own Chicken Kitchen.
Or maybe a pair of chicken pajamas.
Believe it.

Loyal Order of Moose
Or is it an elk? Its hard to say. We've thought about it a lot and moose are just funnier.

What is it about them?

Marcel and Pony don't know.

They just like it.
Fin.

Further evidence of a lack of knitting motivation. Plus, Happy Bike Winter! As well as~ Mysteries of the Unexplained.
This photo is old. How could I forget to post it?
What with Buster being his adorable self and all. Just fyi, I did not knit Buster!

This is the Ballet Wrap cardigan I started last- could it have been- July (?)- at the beach house. I have only seamed the shoulders so far! How does it happen?? This is what Buster and I both are wondering. Time has this way of accelerating.
Speaking of which.
I almost forgot. Here is something cool that Dan and I saw in Hammond at Christmastime.

And finally, just one of the fascinating things about my apartment~

There is this little Celtic looking pattern over the doorknob.
Have you ever seen the like?
And plus, in fact, there are actually several alterno-portals in this place, crazy little doors, some of which are painted or nailed shut. Some are in the floor and some are in the ceiling and I'm hoping at least one leads to John Malkovich's brain, or at least the New Jersey Turnpike. In addition I've discovered these kind of crop circles on the closet floor.
Look for exclusive photos and investigative reporting to come on future Knit-A-Logs.

knitting!
I still do it~

Just very, very slowly. This is the Trekking sock I have been working on for several months now. A couple of times I had to rip out and re-knit sections, as it has floated around in my bag for long stretches until needles fell out. I also had to entirely re-do the heel section, as it somehow got all out of hand and large the first time. Now it fits fine.
One can't help but wonder~

Will we have wool sock weather again? I'm not complaining. But I am a little worried about the polar bears.

Next Knit-A-Log~ fascinating things about my new apartment.
You won't want to miss it.
