its a good news/bad news kind of day
How many times has this happened to you-
Its morning- you're in your pyjamas, hanging out having coffee, waking up with your best buddy, you know, shootin' the breeze-

When there is a commotion and then you remember! They are putting a new roof on the house today. A good thing, right? Ok, so it sounded like the Apocalypse- (and fyi, for those who don't know, I live in an attic) and Marcel was very brave throughout and even barked at the hammering from the roof, not sure what he was trying to achieve but I appreciate his efforts at protecting the house, even if its not necessary. My watchdawg! Look out, he'll bite you!!- but then it really sounded like the Apocalypse!
And lo, in the bathroom-

Daylight! Where there had been none! And a hand reaching in through the ceiling!!!
Oh, dear readers! I'm a little bit rattled, as you can imagine! (really glad I wasn't showering at the time, but rattled nonetheless)
More photographic evidence of my bathroom horror, for your amusement and edification-

And note proximity of the hole to the bathroom light fixture!

Several handknitted washcloths are buried in the rubble!
So now I am wondering if my whole ceiling is going to be coming down on my stuff, (my YARN!!! I've boxed it all in a plastic container for the moment, in case you were worried) and on me and Marcel! We are getting out for the night, escaping to El Oso's just to be safe, and in fact, I am just up here moving my computer- which is under a particularly unstable dormer window- and of course giving a quick blog update!!!
It was going to be much more cheerful, a tale of yarn shopping yesterday with a friend, Bert in order that I might make him a winter hat for his silly head! We went to Closeknit in Evanston, who don't have much of a web page as far as I can tell- but they are very nice- and picked out some basic black and some lovely vermilion red Malabrigo- Malabrigo, being the new black, I've decided-

Then we went to Joy Yee Noodles where, if you can drink bubble tea (I can't- too much sugar- I would become comatose) you will be so happy. As it is, we had some really nice eggrolls, and I accidentally ordered enough soup for 5 people, which is now living in a (rather large) container in Bert's refrigerator!
After dinner we were off to etch, and etch we did! I am still cranking on Phillipe et Claude. Claude got his anchor tattoo last night, but there was not time to print, so look for visuals later!
Apparently some plywood will be going over the hole in the my bathroom so squirrels don't come in to play tonight.
Think happy thoughts for me, dear readers!!!

i had the occasion to speak with your landlord a few weeks ago and she told me about the impending work, so i was kinda wondering if something like this was gonna happen.. its a good idea to try and protect the rest of your stuff, that plaster you got in there, well you know...
good luck!
