For your viewing pleasure
I give you, imaginary friends Philippe et Claude, in their most recent incarnation-

Which may or may not look pretty identical to their former incarnations, but you have to admit that Phil is looking much more butch these days with his new anchor tattoo-

I am quite fond of the starfish as well as the tiny sailboat on the horizon.
For those of you who may be coming in late, I'm not sure who Philippe and Claude are, where they come from, or why I drew them. I have some theories, because they remind me of certain people, and dawgs, and of course the Beach- look in the archives for the Beach if you are bored and inclined- not that any dawg/bears in sailors' hats actually strolled beyond the boardwalk in Bethany, but there is something about that leisurely ocean stroll- plus I suppose it doesn't matter as long as I'm drawing something, right? Don't answer that!!!
Someday I aspire to be a real artist.
Like these two friends- oh! I meant to blog about it, I really did, but things happened. Can I remember what happened? No, but things have that way of happening, don't they? Anyway!
There was a fabulous art opening for Audrey's Elegy for Isabella Blow (more about Isabella Blow)
maybe you were there?? In any event, many in attendance wore hats-

some were quite spectacular.
(photo courtesy of etching buddy .Diane- the one in between the two Audreys.) The painting on the wall is called Self-Portrait with Philip Treacy Hat and Audrey is wearing same- (Philip Treacy's website has so much Flash that you can hardly find the hats so I say if you're curious, google image searching will make you happier- if you like hats, which, who doesn't really? That's the thing.)
And the other thing is, wearing a hat can transform you a bit, if its the right one, and it has got to be the right one-

(do I look slightly cross-eyed?)
Photo courtesy of Bert and his camera phone, vintage Dior pill-box/Devo hat (at least I thought of Devo. That can't be a bad thing.) courtesy the fabulous Audrey hat collection.
Will I ever talk about knitting again?
O! 'Tis the season for Secret Knitting!
Pictures of the not-so-secret Malabrigo hat- for someone in particular who knows who he is and whose cranial circumference I will not reveal but am now aware of- soon! Very soon!
And just a bit of an aside- it seems nearly everyone i have spoken to has got some kind of dread or at least indifference to the prospect of Thanksgiving. With the exception, perhaps, of those who enjoy cooking for and feeding people. Which in theory, sounds nice, but I can't work up the enthusiasm. (which is probably sad, and which I might be able to do if there were not any pressure, but anyone who knows me might doubt that statement.) Why oh why do we do this? Having time off from work is nice, I suppose, or an excuse to eat a lot and being thankful is nice, but it reminds me of rush hour train travel- which always got me thinking "why do we all have to do it at the same time?" Ritual. And it keeps things going maybe, like the train. Maybe its the marking of time that I object to, and plus maybe I am just cranky and I should try to not rain on people's parades-
If anyone can shed any light on this for me in any way I would appreciate it. For example- one's opinions on ritual in general, this one in particular, and if anyone is that into eating turkey, really.
I suppose it is an excuse to eat pie.
Which is a redeeming factor if ever there was one.
Knitting someday, really.

Fetching hat!
We have to all do rituals at the same time, in order to show off our fetching ritual hats. If I just sit here in my office and feel grateful, no one knows if I have a nice hat.
