Can it be?? + a bit of good news!

Oh, things are getting green!
Marcel and I have been waiting so long for good walkies weather and honestly we've been a little blah-

But the sun is coming out and now is the time when a little dawg likes to warm his brisket on the front stairs-

In honor of springtime we cleaned our ears. Oh yes. Now we smell petunia-fresh. Believe it!

I've been out on my bike, despite its sadness and rust from being buried in snow and ice. Egads. I need a new chain. Oh I would post a picture but I think you get it- a solidly rusty chain- that goes clickety click when I ride- never again, never again do I neglect my poor pony!!!

As for knitting, I have actually finished a whimsical striped sock made from Knit Picks Felici in the colorway called Provence. The colors were a little brighter than I thought they would be, but in all it knits up really nice.

I've begun the second of the pair- what is it about stockinette socks that is so mindless and yet so satisfying? They go fast, now I have 4 pairs- perhaps its the instant gratification factor. Perhaps I am not a very ambitious knitter. Its something soothing that I find in the repetitive motion, and plus waiting for the color to change. Oh, I am tempted by lace and in particular picot hemmed edges- oh yes- they make me salivate. But I have found a recipe for stockinette which works for my skinny legs. I'm sticking to it, for now. Maybe someday I will grow some (center pull) balls- it could happen. I've been eyeballing some Estonian socks in the
Vogue Knitting Ultimate Sock Book-
which I am the inconsiderate problem patron who has had it out for freaking ever from the Sulzer Library- don't hate me. So we'll see.

The good news is that I got a residency at Ragdale this summer or early fall - not sure which yet- and I am hoping to do much more drawing there. I'm also hoping the prairie plants will be so tall that they will be over my head, and bugs and birds will be singing, and the lovely brain quieting will descend to allow all the secret ideas to flow to the surface. We'll see!
